Do you tip Uber drivers

Do you tip Uber drivers

Uber is a great platform for people that want to use their car as a taxi for others and make money. But do you tip Uber drivers? It seems that most people using the Uber platform are not giving a tip to the driver. Apparently, only 1% of the customers are always tipping and 60% never do. This really goes to show that despite liking the Uber system and spending less when compared to a taxi, people still want to save money and they don’t tip their driver.

What’s the average tip value?

As we mentioned above, around 2/3 of the Uber users are not tipping their drivers. Which is fine, they are not required to do that and they can choose to tip or not tip as they see fit. However, the average tip value is around 50 cents per ride, so it’s not really that much to begin with. If we’re talking about the 1% that tip often, in their case the average is around $3. As you can see, even people that tip don’t really leave a lot for the Uber drivers. So the best thing that they can do is to either raise their prices or be available more time during the day.

Of course, you’re not required to tip a driver. Instead, your focus has to be on offering a bit of value to the service and delivering the best results. Since roughly 16% of the Uber rides are tipped, it’s easy to see why drivers can be disappointed. But at the end of the day, no one can guarantee that the driver will receive a tip. Which means adjusting prices is the best way to obtain the desired results.

Do we really need to tip Uber drivers?

When you think about the question “do you tip Uber drivers?”, you will notice that even Uber didn’t really want to add a tipping option. Despite being around for quite some time, the platform only added a tipping system years afterwards. They made tipping a lot more difficult, which is not always a simple thing to do.

You can choose to tip your driver if the service is valuable and you got some amazing results. But at the end of the day, it’s all a matter of perspective and the results themselves are among some of the best. Many drivers deserve tips since they offer a very good service.

In the end, however, you are the one paying for the ride. So if you decide that the service did not offer you enough value, then you won’t tip that driver. It’s great that the tipping option exists, and some people appreciate their drivers.

But you are free to choose how you are respecting your drive. After all, most people use a platform like Uber to save money, so they want to save even more by not tipping. Yes, tipping is not mandatory, so they will just pay for the ride. You are free to tip or not tip your driver, but that also means drivers can’t rely on tips for extra income, so in some regions they already increased prices due to a low number of tips. It seems that people who tip the most live in large cities, so drivers that live in smaller cities might end up increasing their price points soon.
